One of the benefits of buying a brand new vehicle is having a manufacturer's warranty in case you should have any issues. This can give you peace of mind when you are out on the road. However, you need to know that not all manufacturer's warranties are the same. They may have different terms, conditions, and restrictions.
Chrysler - New Vehicle Warranty
Chrysler provides a basic warranty for all new vehicles that provides coverage for three years or 60,000 kilometres. In addition, it also features a Powertrain Limited Warranty that is in effect for five years or 100,000 kilometres. However, if you purchase a vehicle for commercial use, you will want to discuss this with your dealer. You may need to purchase separate coverage.
Roadside assistance is included with the manufacturer's warranty. This not only includes towing if the car should break down, but assistance with flat tires, locking your keys in the vehicle, and running out of gas. You do not have to pay anything to have this additional protection. However, you can purchase an extended warranty to cover your vehicle when the original warranty expires.
Jeep - New Vehicle Warranty
Jeep provides a basic warranty that will cover your brand new vehicle for either three years or 60,000 kilometres. It also has a Powertrain Limited Warranty that provides coverage for five years or 100,000 kilometres. SRT vehicles have a separate Powertrain Limited Warranty that is in effect for three years or 60,000 kilometres. These warranties will not cover a vehicle that is used for some commercial purposes. You will either pay a $0 or $100 deductible based on the contract you choose.
The Jeep warranty also includes 24-hour roadside assistance. In addition, if you purchase a vehicle with a Cummins Turbo Diesel engine, it will have its own warranty that is good for five years or 160,000 kilometres.
Dodge - New Vehicle Warranty
Dodge provides a manufacturer's warranty for its new vehicles. The basic warranty covers the vehicle for three years or 60,000 kilometres. A Powertrain Limited Warranty provides coverage for five years or 100,000 kilometres. Vehicles purchased for some commercial uses will not be covered; they will need to be covered with a separate warranty. SRT vehicles also have their own Powertrain Limited Warranty that is good for three years or 60,000 kilometres.
The warranty includes 24-hour roadside assistance in the event of a breakdown. It also provides assistance for such things as running out of fuel, flat tires, and keys locked in the vehicle. If you purchase a vehicle with either the Cummins Turbo engine or EcoDiesel engine, you will have a separate warranty. The Cummins Turbo Diesel engine is covered for five years or 160,000 kilometres and the EcoDiesel engine is covered for five years or 100,000 kilometres with its warranty. You can also purchase an extended warranty to cover your vehicle after the original warranty expires.
Ram - New Truck Warranty
The manufacturer's warranty for brand new Ram vehicles includes a basic warranty that lasts for three years or 60,000 kilometres. It also features a Powertrain Limited Warranty that is in effect for either five years or 100,000 kilometres, whichever comes first. If you purchase a vehicle for some commercial uses, the warranty will not apply. Otherwise, the powertrain warranty is fully transferable.
Corrosion protection is good for three years with no mileage restrictions. It covers sheet metal on the body of the vehicle. You also have the option of purchasing an extended warranty that will pick up where the original warranty ends.
